Social Enterprises in Poland

Abstract: The report focuses on the topic of Social Enterprises (SEs) in Poland, describing their historical evolution, dominant legal forms and fields of activity, as well as political and economic environment of sector’s development. In the final part we describe current discussions concerning SEs and recent trends and changes in the field. Report is based on information and data gathered through literature review and additional desk research concerning the topic of social entrepreneurship and welfare system in Poland. It also summarizes the experience of seconded staff members and their discussions within the hosting institution, which helped to sharpen our understanding of specificity of Polish social enterprises sector.
